The question of how to tell if you are having a stroke has been in the news lately as actor Luke Perry’s passing has us all asking the same question: How could this happen to someone so young?
The Power to End Stroke is an education and awareness campaign seeking to reduce the incidence of stroke. It celebrates and embraces the culture, energy, creativity, and lifestyles of Americans and empowers them to take charge of their health. Please join us to learn how to prevent, treat, and beat stroke so you can live your best life! This is a free community program open to all. Guest speaker is Connie Mastrangelo, BSN, Stroke Program Coordinator.

The Y’s 2nd annual charity Dodgeball Tournament brings the community together to support our GIVE A KID THE Y financial assistance program. Get your team together now! Teams consist of 7-10 players of your choosing. See below for pricing. This is a double-elimination tournament and everyone is welcome. Membership not needed.

Join us for a volunteer project preparing the wooded area behind the Y in anticipation of spring and summer camp activities that will include: moving and spreading wood chips, moving picnic tables, and general clean-up. Suggested tools to bring: work gloves, rake or shovel, wheelbarrow, pitchfork. For your efforts, you will be rewarded with lunch from Hapgoods Restaurant, a favorite in Mountain Lakes! All are welcome to participate but registration is requested.
Children ages 2.5 – 4 years accompanied by a parent/guardian are invited to enjoy a creative project. Decorate and take a flowerpot home with you along with free seeds to plant, then watch nature take its course. Weather permitting, kids can also have some fun time at our beautiful outdoor playground. Program is free but pre-registration required.
Start your day off right and join us for a cuppa joe and other tasty treats. Meet some of your member friends and neighbors while enjoying a snack and good company. It’s free, no registration needed. Non-members welcome.
Meet Mary Donovick, an advanced practice nurse from Saint Clare’s Hospital, who is board-certified as an Adult-Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Her role is designed to help seniors with chronic conditions manage their health and wellness.
Topic on April 5 will be about “National Healthcare Decisions Day” which exists to inspire, educate, and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.
Topic on May 3 will be about “Arthritis & Stroke Awareness Month” with special guest, Fran Mastropole, a Saint Clare’s Health Orthopedic Nurse Navigator. Free literature and info.

Wendy Gibbons from CJ Tidy Homes, was so motivated after reading Marie Kondo’s The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up that she started her own business. Wendy will share her knowledge of how you can tidy up and organize your life.
