Y-Staff:

Sihana Asani

Counselor

Hello, my name is Sihana and I am 20 years old. I am currently attending William Paterson University as a junior. I’m majoring in early childhood education with disabilities and double majoring in psychology. I have always had a passion for children and I couldn’t imagine choosing another field to study other than education. I have been an athlete my whole life and I love being part of a team. Playing sports and staying active have been a part of my life for as long as I could remember. Although I have never worked at a camp before, I have been babysitting since I was 14 years old and I love being around children. I am very energetic and fun to be around. My number one goal is to make sure kids are staying safe while having fun. Most importantly I love making kids laugh!

Greg Pizzano

Specialist - Environmental Science

You may recognize me from the pool deck or camp last year, as I have been working for the Y for the past 6 years. I grew up here at the Y beginning in pre-K, going to camp and volunteering through Leaders Club. I am currently a rising senior at Penn State University, majoring in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management. During the school year, I work as an Environmental Educator for Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center and Penn State’s Outdoor School.  I have taught programs that provide children with a positive outdoor education experience as they learn about the natural world through hands-on lessons and guided exploration.  I am excited to take the experiences I have gained in school during my time as the Environmental Science Specialist this summer!

Lori Loughlin

Specialist - Arts & Crafts

Hi! This is my fourth summer as an Arts/Crafts Specialist at the Lakeland Hills YMCA. I am so excited once again to be introducing campers to artists and art techniques. I have a BFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Psychology, as well as an MA in Education with Special Education certification from Caldwell University. Over the years, working as a graphic designer, a floral designer, an elementary school art teacher, and an art specialist at the Y have kept my creativity alive! Parsippany Troy Hills School District is my employer during the school year. But, during the summer, I get to combine my two great passions—art and teaching. I look forward to working once again with the fantastic staff at the YMCA and hope to make art fun and rewarding for all the campers!

Steve Lauto

Specialist - Fun & Fitness

Hi, I’m Steve, the Fun & Fitness specialist here at the Lakeland Hills YMCA Summer Camp. This will be summer number nine spent here at the Y.  When I’m not at camp, I spend my days in school.  I’ve been a public school teacher in NJ for the last 19 years, eight of which were spent coaching HS basketball. I’m an avid runner and love all sports, both watching and participating. In my spare time I enjoy spending  with my beautiful daughter, doing anything and everything that makes her smile.   I look forward to another great summer here at camp.

Chelsea Arena

Specialist - Cooking

Hello, my name is Chelsea Arena. I have recently graduated from Southeastern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology: Exercise Science. I have over 10 years experience working with children. Working with children has really taught me a lot and I love teaching them new things every day. I recently started working at the Y and could not be more excited to start this journey.

Marissa DeNicola

Specialist - Togetherhood

Hi! My name is Marissa and I am the Togetherhood Specialist at the Y. I graduated from Verona High School and then graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with family/friends, and going to the beach. I love all types of music- but 3 bands I will never get sick of are: The Beatles, Mumford & Sons, and The Lumineers. This is my second summer working at the YMCA with such amazing staff and campers!
