Teen Leaders Club

Winter Brochure

What is Leaders Club?

The Lakeland Hills YMCA Leaders Club provides opportunities for youth to realize who they are and what they are capable of achieving, while making friends and memories along the journey. Programs engage middle and high school age students in fostering a culture of service, provide opportunities to set goals and learn how to share their voice, while being supported by caring adult mentors. All of this is accomplished through our club-based program model that emphasize youth voice, youth engagement and youth leadership. Leaders Club teens change the world while having fun and establishing positive friendships that last a lifetime.

Leaders Club is Welcoming

Leaders Club is a welcoming, judgement free environment that emphasizes positive peer relationships, provides hands on learning experiences, and fosters growth through the YMCA’s Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Leaders Clubs are staffed by adult YMCA staff. Our YMCA screen staff through background checks and provide training in positive youth development principles and techniques.

The advisors help facilitate the program with club members, provide opportunities and training, and chaperone teens on volunteer service trips, regional events such as rallies, and other club related activities.

Typical Meeting:

  • Welcome and Icebreaker/Teambuilding Activity
  • Topic(s) of the day (i.e. specific learning, skill builder, brainstorm community service activities, planning the activities, etc.)
  • Action Items for group and individuals
  • Next Steps
  • Closing

Time & Commitment
A 15-week calendar of intended topics will be provided after registration.

Being a Leader is a Commitment

Being part of a Leaders Club is a commitment. Teens are expected to attend club meetings and activities as well as volunteer at their Y or in their community. A core part of the program is that teens take an active role in planning and facilitating club activities. Like many other youth programs the more time, effort and energy a teen puts into Leaders Club the more they’ll receive back.
