THE WILLIAM KOGEN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
The William Kogen Community Service Award is presented to two high school seniors in our service area based solely on community service. Open to seniors in both public and private high schools.
This application requires two letters of recommendation. Each letter must be written by an adult who knows you well, but it is not a relative.
Letters of recommendation must be submitted electronically as a doc/docx or pdf format.
The two winning students will each receive a $1,000.00 college scholarship and a free one-year membership to the Y, awarded at the Y’s Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation. The winners, along with their parents/guardians and a teacher of his or her choice, are invited as our guests for the evening.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY THROUGH ENGAGEMENT EVENTS
Lakeland Hills Family YMCA brings people together throughout the year through free and accessible events designed to strengthen the health, knowledge, and well-being of our community. From Healthy Kids Day and family wellness events to educational talks led by physicians, health professionals, financial experts, and community partners, these programs give individuals and families practical information they can use in everyday life.
Topics may include nutrition, disease prevention, mental health, healthy aging, financial wellness, safety, and other issues that affect the people we serve. These events also create opportunities to ask questions, build relationships with trusted local experts, and connect with valuable community resources.
By making important information more accessible, Lakeland Hills Family YMCA helps people feel supported, make informed decisions, and take meaningful steps toward healthier, more secure lives. Every event reflects our commitment to creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to achieve, belong, and build lasting relationships.
Throughout the year, additional engagement events and educational opportunities are offered to meet the evolving needs of our community.

DROWNING ELIMINATION
Drowning can happen nearly anywhere with standing water. Parents and caregivers need to equip them with the tools they need to be confident in and around water, so they don’t lose out on the health benefits of exercise, the opportunities to bond with family and friends and the sense of accomplishment when they learn new skills. Teaching children how to be safe around water is a necessity. The YMCA can help you make sure your children learn essential water safety skills, which can open up a world of possibilities for them to satisfy their curiosity safely.

ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS
Programs for all!
The YMCA offers various adaptive programs from life skills, enrichment, swimming and more! Adaptive Swim I-SNAP (Individual Special Needs Aquatic Program) at the Y provides youth and adults with disabilities the chance to learn how to swim in a safe, fun atmosphere. Our Inclusive Program Option and Individuals with Developmental Disabilities provide an environment that fosters learning and enrichment and ensures that participants have a fun, successful, and quality experience.
