Fit For The Future

WITH OVER 100 YEARS OF HELPING CREATE HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES FOR THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, WE’RE READY TO RESHAPE THE FUTURE OF FITNESS FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

BIG CHANGES ARE COMING TO THE Y!

VISION

Imagine a place where neighbors come together to support each other, not just in improving their health, but in building a stronger, more connected community. A place where everyone feels welcome, achievements are celebrated, and generations unite to grow and thrive together. This is the vision for Lakeland Hills Family YMCA: An innovative and inclusive wellness center focused on more than just fitness–it’s about caring for one another and fostering a sense of belonging for all.

Our vision for the new Health & Fitness goes beyond just physical fitness–it’s about creating a space where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Lakeland Hills YMCA is more than a gym, it’s a community hub where we take care of one another. Whether you’re recovering from illness through our healthy living programs, working toward new fitness goals, or simply seeking a friendly face, you’ll find support and care here.

TRANSFORMATIVE TESTIMONY

“When I retired at ag 70, I joined the Cardiac Care Maintenance Program. On two separate occasions, the nurses detected an irregular heartbeat, which most certainly saved my life. I probably would not be alive today, I am incredibly thankful to the YNC for providing this life-changing program, and I am forever grateful for the care and attention that has allowed me to live a fuller, longer healthier life.

— Joe Quinn

FAQS About YMCA Summer Day Camps

Here at the YMCA, our camp counselors attend 30 hours of training before day camp starts. Our training is thorough and includes:

  • Basic First Aid
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Child Abuse Prevention
  • How to be a leader and a role model for kids
  • Social Emotional Learning
  • Group Management
  • Risk Management

Campers are grouped by age and gender. Our Junior Division (campers going into 1st -3rd grade) groups have 10 campers with 1 counselor. Our Senior Division (campers going into 4th -7th grade) groups have 15-20 campers with 2 counselors.

Our camp includes swimming, arts and crafts, sports, science, and games. Our goal is to provide a safe, positive, fun day at camp for your child. We want every camper to try new activities and discover hidden talents and strengths, plus make new friends. The Y teaches and models our character traits: respect, responsibility, caring, honesty. With the elements of Social-Emotional Learning, campers will be able to rebuild relationships in social settings.

The Y facility has one 6-lane swimming pool that camp shares with general membership, summer swim lessons, swim team, childcare and half day camp. Camp uses the entire pool from 1-3:00 pm M-F. Each group has the opportunity to swim 2 times per week. With over 400+ campers per day, we cannot offer more swimming time.

We do not force any campers to swim. Of course, if you would like your camper to swim, please send a note to the head counselor communicating your request and we will try our best to motivate your camper to participate.

Sadly, no. We believe to get the best experience at a summer day camp, campers and counselors need at least a full two weeks to bond together as a group. Shorter sessions would diminish your camper’s positive experience.

We work with our local restaurants and caterers to bring you a daily, individually packaged, lunch. In the price you pay, it includes the lunch itself, catering costs, delivery costs, individual packaging costs, and administration costs. Having to feed 400+ campers every day, we want to keep a high quality of lunch including a main, a side, and a fruit or vegetable.

We do our best to get the cars in and out of the parking lot in a quick and efficient manner. This summer we are trying a new schedule to help alleviate some of that traffic. From 8:00 – 9:15am, we will have over 400+ campers be dropped off for camp. In addition, we have members trying to use the building as well as Fanny Road being extremely busy during that peak traffic time. After you drop off your camper and exit the parking lot, make a right-hand turn to keep the traffic flow. This will help alleviate any unnecessary back-ups in our lot.

No, fees are based on cost per camper. To discount fees for siblings, we would have to increase the basic fee for all.

At the end of every session, our camp media specialist will be posting the session album on Waldo. You will be invited to join the album before the session starts.
