Adult Swim Lessons and Aquatics

LEARN, REFINE, IMPROVE, CHALLENGE – WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

Our 25-yard, 6-lane pool provides a great venue to meet your exercise needs. Almost anything you can do on land can be done in the water – aerobic conditioning, strength training, weight loss, and increased flexibility.

Swimming is good for your heart and is low impact, no stress or strain on your joints. All abilities can benefit from water exercise, whatever age or fitness level because you are in control of your movements. We have many programs available to teach or improve your swimming and fitness skills in the water. All Lakeland Hills YMCA aquatics programs are conducted under the supervision of certified lifeguards.

Adult Swim Lessons – 16 Years and Older

The YMCA Swim Lesson Curriculum is a core group of aquatic skills every person needs to be safe around water. As the foundation of our program, these skills allow students to learn correct swim stroke techniques. Students begin with and build upon skills they are ready to learn, helping them to celebrate their successes, build self-confidence, and enjoy learning to swim and water safety.

Drowning Prevention

Drowning can happen nearly anywhere with standing water. According to the CDC, formal swim lessons can reduce drowning by 88%. Through learning how to perform a sequenced set of skills over a period of lessons, the risk of drowning is reduced, giving you confidence in and around water.

Exercise

Swimming is a great total body workout! When you swim, you engage almost every major muscle group, including your arms, legs and core. If you need a low impact form of exercise, swimming is for you! Swimming increases your heart rate without putting excess stress on your joints.

Connect

Swimming is very much a social sport. Swimmers of all ages can take classes together, train together, or work with an instructor in the pool. Even if you have a pool at home, it is where you gather with your friends and family.
