Become a certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor! Learn to teach children and adults to swim and give water safety presentations to kids and their parents. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and a Level 4 American Red Cross Swimmer! A level 4 swimmer is a person that can swim Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Backstroke and Breaststroke with the proper technique and timing.
100% attendance required at all classes. Participants must pass 100% of water skills and 80% of written tests.
Dates/times below are for practical instruction that will take place at the Y. This course is a blended learning program with additional online instruction through the Red Cross website, which is needs to be completed before the first-class date of the practical instruction. You will be forwarded a link from the Aquatics Director to log into the course. An additional fee of $37 will be required upon log-in. All candidates must come to the Lakeland Hills YMCA prior to the practical part of the class to pick up the books for the WSI Course.
