This fast paced yoga class is designed to focus more on strength, breathing and flow. You will be guided through a routine of postures (asanas) that are designed to make the body more fit and supple while at the same time allowing the mind to relax and rejuvenate. Yoga experience helpful.
This class incorporates traditional sports stretching, some Pilates mat exercises, and martial arts warm-ups. While Sport Yoga is 70% Hatha style, it focuses more on structure and balance. Beginners welcome!
This is an ancient Chinese exercise consisting of a series of slow, graceful movements. Emphasis is on relaxed posture and balance. These exercises will improve health, circulation, and balance while increasing flexibility. Recommended for everyone regardless of age and physical condition.
A dynamic type of yoga with flowing movements connecting yoga postures into one fluid seamless exercise. It is energetic, with emphasis on breath-controlled yoga movements. Level II: Practicing for six months to one year consistently and comfortable with Sun Salutations and various asanas.
A fit and supple body is developed through the practice of postures (asanas). Taken from various Yoga disciplines, the asanas are taught with attention to correct positioning of the body so that each individual part as well as the various physiological systems can function to their best potential. Standing postures and breathing are emphasized in this class. Level II – Practicing for six months to one year consistently and comfortable with poses.
The ancient art and science of Yoga is used to promote a healthy and well-functioning body and mind. This is a less “athletic” form of yoga and classes will focus on postures that help to manage pain, increase flexibility, and promote health and well-being. Each class will vary but everyone will leave feeling relaxed and replenished.
Blending the breath and flexibility training of Yoga with the power and centering techniques of Pilates, Yogalaties offers a workout that stretches and tones the body while relaxing the mind.
Twenty-one simple tools to lifelong comfort and ease. This class can be done by anyone of any age and ability. The movement sequences, done in a chair, focus on the healthy longevity of the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
This is the gentlest form of yoga. Chair Yoga is easier for those with less limber muscles. Ideal for people with high blood pressure, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, vertigo, MS, carpel tunnel syndrome, chronic pain, and for anyone who finds it difficult to get up from or down to the floor. Class is held weekly.
In conjunction with the Mountain Lakes Recreation Department, join us for our “famous” summer yoga and beach boot camp classes. Beginning July 13, all classes (through August 28) take place IN THE YMCA UPPER PARKING LOT weather permitting and are free and open to the community. No registration, just drop in!
- “Beach” Yoga: Monday-Friday from 7:00 -8:00 a.m. Instructors, M-F: Ivette, Meryl, Stacy, Sue B, and Lisa A/Donna.
- “Beach” Body Blast: Monday and Wednesday from 8:15-9:00 a.m. Instructor: Dana.
- “Beach” Boot Camp: Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:15-9:00 a.m. Instructors: Sue P; Thursdays, Dawn. Saturdays, 8:00-8:45 a.m. Alternating Instructors: Dawn/Dana/Darlene.
- There is no access to the Y facility, and therefore no use of the outdoor bathrooms.
- Participants must sign a waiver to take a class.
- Social distancing protocols and guidelines will be in effect.
- Access may be restricted to a maximum number of participants.
- Please bring your own water, mat, and towel to class.
- You may bring a friend – good friends don’t let friends workout alone.
- Don’t forget to apply sunscreen!
